Flooring is a major part of a building because it not only furnishes the interior but it is also the most frequently used area. Hence, most home or factory owner exercise wise and conscious choice when it comes to flooring, making sure that there is a correct blend of beauty and practicality.

Even though they share same basic function, domestic and commercial flooring actually differ in great ways, similar idea applies to epoxy flooring too. The main focus of domestic epoxy flooring tends to be its colour and if it is able to blend into the surrounding. While the main focus of epoxy flooring in commercial setting is to ensure its functionality or resistance to wear and tear.

As such, the thickness of epoxy is the one of the primary different between home and industrial epoxy flooring. In commercial setting, owners tend to choose flooring with higher percentages of epoxy or high duty epoxy. Higher percentages mean that the floor is instill with a higher quantity of epoxy, it takes longer time to complete since there is a need to wait for a layer to dry before applying the next but it is more durable in longer term.

On the other hand, home owners may opt for flooring with lower percentage of epoxy or the lower duty epoxy. These epoxy flooring are the same as those used in commercial setting with the exception that they are either mixed with water or solvent. In the case of lower human and machinery traffic, such epoxy flooring is regarded more suitable for homes as they incur a lower cost and takes relatively shorter time to complete.

Another apparent different between domestic and commercial epoxy flooring lie in the time of preparation. Usually pre-evaluation assessment takes place before epoxy flooring is not as elaborate for domestic setting as compared to commercial setting. This is because concrete floor at homes are less likely to be exposed to chemical spills and are less likely to succumb to safety regulations. Thus, pre-evaluation for domestic epoxy inclines towards the examination of humidity within the area, mending of cracks, and repairing of imperfections.

However, pre-epoxy evaluation is not so straight forward in the commercial setting, because first of all, there is a need to find out the reason for epoxy within the industry. Be it as part of the safety regulation compliance or to prevent disturbance in day-to-day function, the pre-epoxy flooring in industries is more elaborate and detailed. Besides, there is also a need to pay attention to the routine, schedule, the kind of chemical or traffic that the floor will experience after flooring, during the pre-epoxy evaluation so that the end product is at its maximum efficiency.

In summary, regardless of the type and circumstance to epoxy flooring, it is always a good practice to consult expert for thorough check before execution.
